PETALING JAYA: Walk-in Covid-19 vaccinations for senior citizens aged 60 and above kicked off to a smooth start at several inoculation centres (PPV) across Klang Valley.

       Among those who walked in for their vaccinations were accountant Ng Kim Hong, 70, and his wife, Chung Nyuk Lin, 64.

       “I walked in expecting a long queue but I didn’t experience any. It was less than an hour and people are very helpful,” said Ng, adding that it was a very smooth process.

       “We barely waited.”

       The couple got their jabs at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre vaccination centre yesterday.

       UCSI Taman Connaught PPV manager Khalid Abu Bakar said it only received about 10 walk-ins yesterday.

       “As long as they don’t have appointments elsewhere, we can insert them here. We had about 10.

       “Although we are accepting walk-ins, there were no queues and it was a smooth process,” he said yesterday.

       Khalid said those aged 60 and above were welcomed to walk in at the UCSI Taman Connaught PPV.

       “Just make sure you don’t have a fixed appointment,” he added.

       He also urged family members accompanying their relatives to be vaccinated to wait in their cars to avoid overcrowding.

       “Only those scheduled to be vaccinated should enter the PPV. For parents or children, it’s best to wait in your cars to avoid any Covid-19 cluster,” he added.

       Walk-ins for senior citizens at Klinik Metro in Kota Kemuning were also smooth, according to its manager Bernie Foo.

       “Many would call first because they are aware of being too exposed. Maybe one or two walked in after going by our clinic.

       “It wasn’t crowded and it was a smooth process.”

       Foo also encouraged senior citizens to make a call first before coming to get vaccinated.

       “If they meet our criteria, then we will register them for vaccination, which depends on what we have in stock.”
