A 15-year-old girl has been caught teaching her father how to drive, police say.

       Traffic officers pulled over the Vauxhall Meriva in the Donnington area of Telford, Shropshire, at about 11.15am on Sunday.

       The motorist had his vehicle, which was displaying L plates, seized after telling officers that he was being supervised by his teenage daughter.

       He was also reported for driving in breach of licence conditions and without third party insurance.

       Officers from Shropshire's Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) tweeted:？

       One baffled web user replied "what a tool!" while another added: "Best excuse ever, can't blame them for trying."

       Another added: "Nice try mate, better luck next time."

       'World's worst dad'

       A third commented: "Is that the best he could come up with? World's worst dad right there, trying to implicate his daughter."

       By law learner drivers must be supervised by somebody aged at least 21 who has held a full driver's licence for at least three years.

       West Mercia Police was contacted for comment.
