PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will hold discussions with Venezuela on the exchange of participants for aviation-related training, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister said the training includes human resources development, financial management, and aviation technical expertise under the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme, particularly with courses by the Malaysian Aviation Academy.
Dr Wee said he pledged to revive the air services agreements Malaysia had with Venezuela since 1993.
“This could pave the way for more air links with Latin America, possibly on a code-sharing basis.
“Malaysia and Venezuela have much to offer each other and must work towards more fruitful cooperation,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (March 23).
Dr Wee was attending the first bilateral engagement in Montevideo, Uruguay with the Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil (INAC), Venezuela's counterpart to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
“I had a very encouraging meeting with INAC president Major General Juan Teixeira on safe reopening of our respective air borders and increasing Malaysia's agreements with Venezuela on training and more air services,” he said.
