PONTIAN: A sundry wholesale shop in Jalan Taman Sui here was gutted in a fire on Sunday (Feb 6).
Pontian Baru Fire and Rescue Department chief Mahadir Mamat said an emergency call was received at around 11.23pm.
He added 14 firemen were deployed to the scene led by operations commander Iqbal Raduan.
“Two Fire and Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicles and an Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS) vehicle and a water tanker were used in the operation,’’ Mahadir said in a statement.
He said the fire destroyed about 40% of the ground floor of the three-storey building.
Mahadir said the cause and losses suffered are still under investigation.
The fire was put out at about 4am on Monday (Feb 7).
