KUALA LUMPUR: Tony Pua will be summoned to Bukit Aman over his recent comments on the recent sentence reduction for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that investigations were launched into Pua's comments posted on Facebook as it allegedly insulted the royal institution.

He said that his comments had "elements of inciting the public to hate and insult the royal institution," in particular the King's prerogative enshrined under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution.

Investigations are being conducted by the police's special investigation unit.

"Tony Pua will be called in to Bukit Aman at 1pm on Feb 5. The case is still under investigation and the public is advised not to speculate or share false information that could affect the investigation or cause civil unrest," he said.

In a Facebook post later Sunday evening, Pua said he was being investigated for sedition and would be at Buit Aman at 1pm on Monday (Feb 5).
