Beatrice, 33, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed their first child into the world over the weekend. The Queen’s granddaughter gave birth to a girl, weighing 6lb 2oz, at 11.42pm on Saturday at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Monday afternoon.

       Fergie returned from Balmoral in Scotland on Friday and was introduced to the newest addition to the family over the weekend.

       A friend of the Duchess of York told Hello! magazine: “She is absolutely over the moon.”

       In an official statement, Buckingham Palace said the grandparents and great-grandparents were “delighted”.

       The Palace also gave a special mention to Beatrice’s stepson Christopher Woolf, known as Wolfie, from Edoardo's previous relationship with ex-fiancee Dara Huang.

       It said: “The new baby's grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news.

       “The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.

       "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

       Fergie, 61, and Prince Andrew became grandparents for the first time earlier this year when their youngest daughter Eugenie gave birth to a baby boy.

       “It has been just us for 33 years, but now you are creating your own families, and I couldn’t be happier for you both and my magnificent sons-in-law, Jack and Edo."

       Fergie also spoke about the joys of being a grandmother.

       She added: "Being 61 makes me a young grandma, and I love it.

       “I smile from my heart every day, because that is how it feels to be a granny.

       “I have so many fun ideas of things to do with my grandchildren, and of course they’re a perfect new audience for all my children’s books.”

       Beatrice’s baby automatically becomes 11th-in-line to the throne.

       The newest addition to the family is also the Queen’s 12 great-grandchild – and fourth to be born this year.

       Princess Eugenie’s son August was followed by Zara Tindall’s son, Lucas, in March.

       Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a daughter Lili, in June and now Beatrice has given birth to the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild in 2021.
