KUALA LUMPUR: For banks in Asean and India, the Covid-19 outbreak will likely impede economic recovery and erode borrowers’ debt repayment capacity and increase their asset risks, according to Moody’s Investors Service in its latest report.
However, the banks’ strong loss-absorbing buffers, policy support and the virus impact being focused on a few segments, would keep their credit strength intact, it said in the first report of a series covering the impact of fresh coronavirus waves on banks in Asean and India. — Bernama
