PETALING JAYA: The daughter of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has admitted that she met former Goldman Sachs bankers Roger Ng and Tim Leissner to land a “competitive job”.
However, Nooryana Najwa Najib (pic) said that she did not get the job that she wanted at the multinational investment banking group because there would be a “conflict of interest”.
Instead, Leissner introduced her to TPG, a private American investment bank.
She did get a job there but it was not a high-level one, she said.
“I interviewed for an intern analyst position at the TPG London office, which means I am at the bottom of the food chain, where besides your core job scope, you’re also responsible for the spadework.
“You’re the PowerPoint girl, the photocopying girl, the coffee girl and the delivery girl, just to name a few,” she added.
Nooryana said she worked there for 11 months and left to focus on her own business and further studies.
In a Facebook post yesterday, she said she had been turned down for a job at Goldman Sachs.
“I was told it would be a conflict of interest because the investment bank was doing business with the Malaysian government.
“I was keen on Goldman Sachs as I wanted a role involving finance and government since I studied international politics and foreign politics at university.”
A day earlier, Leissner had told the New York Eastern District Court that he was informed by fugitive financier Low Taek Jho or Jho Low that Najib wanted his three children to be given jobs at Goldman Sachs.
He said he received Nooryana’s CV and later helped her get a job with TPG.
However, Najib said on Wednesday that none of his children was offered jobs by Goldman Sachs.
