PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has denied planning a political coup to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan wondered if such an allegation by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was to divert attention from his Court of Appeal hearing on Dec 8.

“Najib said Bersatu was plotting to topple the prime minister. I deny this. This is slander.

“Is it not strange that the slander comes from Najib? Those are the words of an experienced individual along with his friends that have brought down a prime minister. Does he think that everyone behaves like him?" he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 1).

On Tuesday (Nov 30), Najib alleged that Bersatu was plotting a political coup to reinstate Tan Sri Muhiyddin Yassin as the prime minister.

Wan Saiful said currently the hike in the prices of goods have become the talking point and the concern of society.

“Najib does not have to point fingers to blame others. Speed up the solution.

“Or is he trying to divert attention as Dec 8 is near?

“Speaking of price hikes, the people should remember the story of Najib and kangkong. Try to Google it,” he said.

The Court of Appeal has set Dec 8 for a decision on Najib’s appeal against his conviction and sentence for misappropriating RM42mil in funds from SRC International Sdn Bhd.
