The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, stepped out in a breathtaking gold Jenny Packham gown alongside her husband, Prince William, 39, and Prince Charles, 72, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 73. Kate's ensemble made jaws drop as she hit the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall and even prompted a compliment from Bond actor Daniel Craig who said she looked "jolly lovely." The Duchess of Cambridge's spectacular outfit sparked a flood of compliments on Twitter while Camilla's gown did not receive the same level of attention.

       Reacting to Kate's dress one fan with the screen-name InterestedObserver gushed: "Can I just say that the four of you looked incredible tonight but the Duchess of Cambridge was/is absolutely stunning."

       Another user going by Jane Harding fawned: "Catherine looks just wow! Plus in playing tennis with Emma the other day showed she is worlds away from LA celeb types- aren't we the lucky ones!"

       A third, @Cherylsmilesx, said: "The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning tonight," accompanied by a heart emoji.

       While Camilla received markedly less praise, her outfit was also well-received alongside Charles's and William's attire.

       Camilla is married to the heir apparent and will be Britain's next consort when Charles is king.

       However, debate over which title she will take has been fraught ever since her marriage to Prince Charles in 2005.

       While the wives of monarchs are traditionally known as Queen Consort, Camilla is expected to take the title of Princess Consort as a mark of respect to the late Princess Diana.

       Kate, on the other hand, will automatically become Queen Consort when William is king and the Cambridges youth and more relaxed ways mean they often upstage Charles and Camilla.

       Kate's spectacular dress which was fitted with a sweeping cape, saw her take centre stage at last night's event while Camilla, Charles and William were overshadowed.

       Princes William and Charles chose to don smart tuxedos in keeping with the Bond theme of the event, and Camilla walked down the red carpet decked in blue.

       Prince William looked smart in a velvet jacket with satin lapels.

       This was the first event Prince William, Kate, Prince Charles and Camilla attended together since Prince Philip's funeral in April and struck a markedly different tone.

       The royals joined a long list of celebrities on the red carpet, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Rami Malik and Billie Eilish.

       The premiere of the new Bond film was delayed from its original date because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

       A number of healthcare workers and members of the armed forces were invited to last night's event.

       The Palace said the special invites come after the “extraordinary contribution to the nation’s response to the COVID pandemic.”

       The Cambridges also attended the royal premiere of Spectre when it was released in 2015.

       The proceeds from the evening would go to charities for members of MI5, MI6, and special forces.

       As patrons of various charities and institutions, the evening also served as an opportunity for the royal family to raise awareness of their particular interests.

       Prince Charles is Patron of the British Film Institute, which houses a film archive and promotes access to all things film and television.

       Prince William is the current President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), a position he has held since 2010.
