SINGAPORE – Make family time all the more special with these ideas and activities.
The Salvation Army is calling for volunteers to join its Christmas kettling team.
The task is simple: Ring a bell to spread festive cheer and encourage shoppers to drop cash donations into the charity’s trademark red kettles.
The donations will help fund programmes for its diverse group of beneficiaries, who include children and youth, the elderly, migrant workers and ex-offenders.
The annual festive fund-raiser started on Nov 23 and will run until Dec 21 daily, except Sundays, from 11am to 9pm.
Choose a two-hour time slot to volunteer with your kids at one of 12 locations islandwide. Receive a certificate of appreciation upon completing a shift.
Register at str.sg/xQc2 and follow its Facebook account (fb.com/SalvationArmySingapore) to find out more about its causes.
Spread joy to underprivileged kids from Care Corner Student Centres and Singapore Red Cross Young Hearts by making their wishes come true.
The children have penned their dream presents on Doraemon-themed cards. These are hung on Christmas trees at UOL Malls’ Kinex, Velocity@Novena Square and United Square.
Ask your kids to select some wishes to fulfil. Drop off your purchases together with the recipients’ cards at the malls’ customer service counters by Dec 8.
UOL Malls is also celebrating the holiday season with a line-up of Doraemon Pocket Of Wishes events.
Catch Doraemon in a free 25-minute musical at Kinex till Dec 1 and United Square from Dec 5 to 15. The popular Japanese manga character is teaming up with elves to deliver presents using the iconic Dokodemo Door.
Take photos with Doraemon, his sister Dorami and best friend Nobita at meet-and-greet sessions when you spend $30 at the malls.
Until Dec 8 at Velocity@Novena Square, redeem a notebook and a workshop pass to customise a Doraemon tote or bag tag with a minimum spending of $100.

The Paw Patrol pups will be in Singapore for a stage production at Sands Theatre from Dec 12 to 15.
Paw Patrol Live! The Great Pirate Adventure features popular characters from the Nickelodeon animated series Paw Patrol (2013 to present).
Your kids can dance, sing along and cheer on their favourite pups – Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Skye, Zuma and Tracker – who are on a mission to rescue Cap’n Turbot.
They discover a pirate treasure map and take you on an adventure from land to sea.
The show runs for 90 minutes, which includes a 15-minute intermission.
There is no minimum age for admission, but all audience members must have a ticket, which costs between $58 and $143. Go to str.sg/zYVD for details.
