IPOH: The Civil Defence Force’s Baywatch unit plans to expand its services to Teluk Senangin in Lumut.

A state Civil Defence Force spokesman said the Teluk Senangin beach has become popular in recent times and it aims to station its lifeguards there to ensure the safety of beachgoers.

“We hope to provide our services to visitors there.

“We are still discussing this with the Manjung Municipal Council to find a suitable location for us to station a Baywatch team there.

“The team will be stationed at an observation tower at the beach, which will also be equipped with various assets, including boats and tools like surfboard and rescue tubes.

“They will also patrol the beaches and advise folk if the weather turns bad,” he told The Star.

The spokesman added that there are currently two Baywatch teams operating, at Teluk Batik in Lumut and Teluk Nipah on Pangkor Island.

“We have six people now. We plan to add four more to be stationed at Teluk Senangin.

“The team will also be on shift between 7am and 7pm daily to ensure the safety of beachgoers,” he said, adding that all lifeguards have received training at its training centre.
