AMMAN, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) has signed 1.5 billion U.S. dollars deals with several Indian companies to increase the exports of phosphate and fertilizers.

Under the deals, the Jordanian miner would provide Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) with two million tons of phosphate and 100,000 tons of phosphoric acid annually, and supply each of the Indian Potash Limited and IFFCO with 250,000 tons of DAP fertilizers, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The agreements also paved the way for building two phosphoric acid plants in Shediya and Aqaba, south of Jordan, based on the upcoming feasibility and technical studies, it added.

JPMC Chairman Muhammad Thneibat said that the new cooperation would bring in financial investments, technical expertise, and advanced technology to the phosphate fertilizer industry of Jordan.
