KLANG: The Selangor government will do what is right in regards to the controversial degazettment of the Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve (KLNFR), says PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said that PKR had heard Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's views over the issue.
"I believe the Mentri Besar and the state government will initiate measures that are in line with the party policy in regards to the preservation and protection of the environment and forest reserves," said Anwar on Facebook.
Anwar said he had met Amirudin two days after his explanation to the party to further discuss the matter.
Amirudin has come under intense pressure from his own party members as well as the state's elected representatives from both the government and Opposition sides over the degazettment issue.
Selangor Pakatan Harapan leaders from PKR, DAP and Amanah had also met and collectively decided that Amirudin would bring the matter up at an exco meeting on Sept 8.
Earlier this month, Selangor Forestry Department director Datuk Ahmad Fadzil Abdul Majid said KLNFR's degazettement was given the green light after intense scrutiny carried out by the Public Inquiry Committee in line with the Public Investigation Method (Selangor) 2014.
