Tory leadership favourite Robert Jenrick has made a surprising offer to Boris Johnson as he continues fighting to replace Rishi Sunak.
In an interview with the Telegraph this afternoon, Mr Jenrick said he would be “pleased” to welcome Mr Johnson back to the Commons as a Conservative MP should he win the race.

Responding to a question from paper reader Robert Mann about whether he would bring back Boris Johnson, Mr Jenrick simply replied: “With respect to Boris Johnson, the Conservative Party right now needs all of its talent involved, and so if Boris wanted to return to Parliament, I would be pleased to welcome him.”
Mr Jenrick also revealed he would be “delighted” should Mr Johnson wish to make a Cabinet comeback, akin to David Cameron’s surprise return as Foreign Secretary under Rishi Sunak.
The Tory hopeful said he could see a world in which he was Prime Minister and Mr Johnson is sitting at his Cabinet table.

He explained: “I think what we need are the best people who are available in the Conservative family to be on the pitch, supporting us to be a strong opposition, holding Keir Starmer to account for all of the failings that we already see, and ultimately winning the next general election.”
“And if Boris wanted to be part of that, I’d be delighted.”
While Mr Johnson has picked up a number of highly-paid roles since leaving Downing Street, much like Lord Cameron he yet seems to have found his post-Commons calling.
While he’s taken jobs as a Mail columnist and a contributor at GB News, he is yet to make a single appearance on the channel nearly a year after his job was confirmed.
He is also set to release his autobiography later this year, and has made a huge amount of money as an international speaker, and rallied Republicans in the US behind supporting Ukraine.
He met with Donald Trump last month, where they discussed Ukraine “at length”.

Last week Mr Johnson was tipped for a new role as global editor of the Telegraph, as former Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi puts together a bid to buy the paper.
Sky News revealed that Mr Zahawi has raised the idea of former premier Boris Johnson becoming a key figure in that expansion, as its new global editor-in-chief.
At this stage it’s reported that the proposed new job for Mr Johnson is in “preliminary, informal talks”, with a source close to Mr Johnson insisting that there is no agreement in place nor formal talks occurring.
However they confessed the proposal is “floating around”.
Another person close to Mr Johnson said: “He still holds the Telegraph in high affection."

In his Telegraph interview today, Mr Jenrick also said he doesn’t think multiculturalism is working.
He warned that the country is “deeply divided” and that integration “is not working as it should be”.

“As a home office minister, I saw segregated communities, I saw instances of intercommunal violence, and I saw diminishing public trust. I want us to change that.
“Part of the answer is reducing and slowing the pace of change in our country. It is impossible to successfully integrate hundreds of thousands of people coming into the UK every year.
“We also need the police to be rigorously enforcing the law whenever we see instances of extremism from whichever quarter they come from, and I’m afraid at times we haven't seen that."
