KUALA LUMPUR: A group of retired judges – including a former Chief Judge of Malaya – and their families have sued the government and three others for allegedly failing to give them annual increments to their pensions since 2015.
Among the 28 judges formerly of the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court are former Court of Appeal president Tan Sri Alauddin Mohd Sheriff, former Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Siti Norma Yaakob and former Court of Appeal judge and Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.
The group also includes seven widows of deceased judges.
They named the government, the Prime Minister, the Cabinet and the Public Service Department director-general as the first, second, third and fourth defendants respectively.
It was understood that the lawsuit was filed last week by Messrs Chooi & Company + Cheang & Ariff.
