A 90-YEAR-old woman has died after being hit by a Mercedes truck while crossing the road.
A 31-year-old man was arrested after the pensioner was mowed down in Northenden, Manchester on Thursday afternoon.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the truck initially left the crash, but returned shortly after.
A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention.

He has since been released under investigation.
The incident took place around 3.20pm on Thursday, March 24, and the road was closed for a few hours.
PC Karl Horner, from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a tragic incident that has resulted in an elderly woman losing her life and our thoughts remain with her family at this difficult time.

"We immediately launched an investigation and the road was closed for some time while we carried out a detailed investigation to bring the woman's family and loved ones the answers they need."
Cops are desperately appealing for witnesses after the incident.
"We're appealing for anyone who may have any information, may have seen anything or has any dashcam footage, to get in touch with us," PC Horner added.
