       A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C. police said.

       Michael Delvaughn Hall of Northeast Washington was killed in the 3500 block of A Street SE.

       Police said officers responded to a report of a person down at 7:39 a.m. and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

       Efforts to reach his family were unsuccessful.

       The latest police data shows 235 killings so far this year, a 33 percent increase from the same time last year.
