VETERAN actress Norlia Ghani, 73, urges productions to not treat veteran actors as “kentang borong” (wholesale potatoes) and start giving payments that will commensurate with their work as actors, Harian Metro reported.
“They may think that veteran artistes rarely get offers, so we can be paid any amount and we will just accept it.
“I don’t want to be a veteran artiste who is made to look like a wholesale potato. It’s as if we will go hungry if we don’t take the offer,” she said.
Norlia, who is popular with Joyah’s character, said that all she wants is fair payment for the work she does.
“I will reject offers that are seen as inappropriate or very extreme. I am not the only artiste that gets underpaid but if they want to take the job then it’s up to them,” Norlia said.
