AN ELDERLY woman was dragged out of her car outside a Tesco store by a teen who then made off in the vehicle.

       Cops were called to the supermarket car park in Silk Street, Rochdale, shortly before 8.20pm last night following the "terrifying ordeal".

       A 78-year-old woman was grabbed and pulled out of her orange Toyota Aygo by a man who then stole the car and drove off towards Manchester Road.

       Luckily, the pensioner escaped uninjured.

       The suspect is described as white, aged between 16 and 18, around 5ft2 or 3, and was wearing a surgical mask, grey sweat pants and a dark top.

       Inspector Paul Mason, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for an elderly woman who was simply doing her shopping and officers immediately launched an investigation and have been carrying out a number of lines of enquiry.

       "Thankfully, she didn't suffer any injuries but is understandably distressed and we're doing all we can to find whoever was responsible and locate her vehicle.

       "The woman's vehicle is a distinct colour - orange - and we would ask anyone who may have seen it to contact us.

       It comes after police launched a manhunt after a man grabbed a female jogger and pushed her into a canal.

       The woman, 42, was on a run on the Rochdale Canal footpath shortly before 6pm on October 26 when she was grabbed by a male passer-by.

       The man struggled with the victim before shoving her into water and running away towards nearby Gorrels Way.
