'Life is a trouble!' Queen has Corrie stars in stitches with brilliant quip on set visit

       The Queen has been seen joking with cast members of Coronation Street during a visit to the iconic soap's set. In celebration of the show's 60th anniversary, Her Majesty received a tour of the studio at Manchester's Media City.

       The Queen was greeted by the actors of the show whilst she walked down Weatherfield's famous cobbled streets.

       She was seen asking a cast member if playing her role "was a fun thing to do?"

       When a member of the cast said Corrie liked to balance the show's trouble "with some niceness", the Queen was heard replying "Well, I think life is a trouble".

       She also said the set was "remarkable" after learning how the production team had moved the set from Manchester to Media City in Salford.

       Outside the iconic pub the Rovers Return Inn, she was greeted by Coronation Street's longest-serving actors.

       This included William 'Bill' Roache. who has appeared on the show since September 1960.

       Actress Barbara Knox, who plays Rita Tanner on the show, thanked the Queen for her visit and said "it has given us all such a lift".

       In response, the Queen praised Coronation Street for being able to "carry on" during the pandemic.

       To this, William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, replied "No, Ma'am, you are the one who carried on."

       The Queen's official visit marks the show's 60th anniversary.

       Coronation Street has been one of the most popular British programmes over the last six decades.

       Her Majesty last visited the set in 1982 at its original site in Manchester. The soap moved studios to Salford in 2013.

       The Queen's visit forms part of a busy week for the 96-year-old monarch.

       She was recently seen at Windsor Horse Show, watching her granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor participating in the carriage driving, where she drove Prince Philip's former carriage.

       She also received German Chancellor Angela Merkel last Friday at Windsor Castle.

       These engagements followed the Queen's week-long tour of Scotland, where she visited Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Stirling and met with First Leader Nicola Sturgeon.
