A pedestrian died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle on Richmond Highway in Northern Virginia.

       Fairfax County police said the crash happened Wednesday evening along the highway near Pohick Road in the Fort Belvoir area.

       The man was taken to a hospital where he died, police said. The driver who hit him stayed at the scene.

       The crash remains under investigation, and the man’s name was not immediately released, pending notification of his family, police said.
