A HUGE crash caused an oil spill - resulting in travel chaos for drivers on a major motorway.
The M1 was shut southbound between junctions 17 and 16 near Northampton after a collision involving multiple vehicles.

According to National Highways, three of the four lanes were closed, sparking lengthy traffic jams.
The National Highways: East Midlands tweeted: "3 lanes (of 4) remain closed on the #M1 southbound between J17 and J16 near #Northampton due to a collision.
"Emergency services remain on scene and recovery is being arranged. There is a 40 minute delay on approach with 6 miles of congestion."
The collision resulted in an oil spillage across the carriageway, the NH account had tweeted earlier.
Drivers were urged to allow extra time for their journeys.
