KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 4,819 Fire and Rescue Department and Bomba reserve personnel have been mobilised to assist flood victims.

       Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said that as of 12am on Sunday (Dec 19), the department has also deployed 125 land vehicles and 214 boats to six states affected by the flood.

       "For Selangor, 1,577 personnel have been mobilised while additional peersonnel from Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya have also been deployed," said Reezal Merican.

       "I have contacted Selangor Mentri besar to coordinate and ready to deploy additional personnel if the situation worsens," he added in a Facebook post.

       He urged those involved in the flood to contact the emergency hotline and abide by orders from the authorities at all times.

       "Safety should be the priority. My team and I will continue to monitor the situation. We are ready to mobilise more assets to assist," said Reezal Merican.
