POLICE have confirmed a body has been found in the search for Gaynor Lord.
The 55-year-old vanished on Friday December 8 after she was seen leaving work early - then rushing through the streets of Norwich.
In a statement today Norfolk Police said: “Specialist divers have found the body of a female in the River Wensum after a detailed and methodical search over the past few days.
“While we establish her identity, our thoughts are with Gaynor's family at this difficult and distressing time.
“We have specialist family liaison officers supporting the family and keeping them updated with what we are doing at all stages.
“We remain open-minded to the circumstances of Gaynor's disappearance and will continue to pursue all lines of enquiry to ascertain why she went missing.”

A pal has revealed that Gaynor had called her before she suddenly dashed out of Jarrold’s department store where she worked.

Divers were rediverted to further down the river
This morning an orange buoy was positioned about 100 metres down stream from where the focus of the search had been the day before.
An Environment Agency search boat was then stationed next to the buoy as a dive team arrived just after 11am.
Two members of the specialist dive team could be seen surveying the area, appearing to check if the water was safe to enter.
Police divers with flippers could be seen ready to enter the water in a park area further along the river but after a phone call was received, their kit was packed up and they rediverted.

Where was she last seen?
CCTV showed Gaynor leaving her job at Bullards Gin via Bedford St at 2.45pm, just over an hour before she was due to finish work at 4pm.
Later the same day, a member of the public discovered her belongings in the city’s Wensum Park.
Her clothing, a white work shirt and yellow tank top, along with two rings, mobile phone and glasses were found across the park and her olive-coloured coat was discovered in the water.
Cops confirmed the clothes she was wearing at the time were all located in the park raising the prospect she went missing at least partially unclothed.

Gaynor is ‘high-priority’
Norfolk Constabulary Supt Wes Hornigold asked for the public’s help as Gaynor is a “high-priority” as it’s so unlike her to vanish like this.
The officer said: “Gaynor has been a high-priority missing person from the outset because of the nature of her disappearance and because this is so out of character.
“As time goes by our concerns increase – as do the family’s as well, so we are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.
“We are working with people in the cathedral to try and understand what happened.”

Daughters tragic plea
Gaynor's family tragically put out a desperate plea on Tuesday - five days into the search for the mum.
Her daughter Alexandra posted on Facebook: “Please share, if anyone knows anything please do contact the police.
“We want her home.”

Gaynor's possessions found spread out near river
On the day she vanished her white work shirt, yellow tank top, and jewellery were found spread out - and her olive-coloured coat was found in the Wensum river.
That evening the mum's mobile phone, coat, ring and glasses were found as police continued to scour Wensum Park.
Cops released CCTV of Gaynor earlier this week in the hopes people who saw her would come forward.
In the footage she could be seen smiling as she left work, before she appeared to be rushing along streets.

'We can't explain some of her behaviour'
The police have confirmed that they do not know why Gaynor Lord left work earlier on the day of her disappearance.
Chief Superintendant Dave Buckley gave a media briefing and he said: “We can’t explain some of her behaviour that day. We’re working really closely with family, with friends, with anybody else who might have had contact with her in the recent days or weeks to try and understand why this might have happened.
“People are very shocked by what’s happened. Nobody knows why she’s done what she’s done.”

Husband Clive ‘sounds like he hasn’t slept’, pal says
Speaking on GMB today Julie Butcher said she had been speaking to Gaynor’s husband Clive since she vanished.
She explained: "He sounded like he hadn't slept. He sounded dreadful.
“As you would if your wife hadn’t come home.”
Julie told how she had bumped into Gaynor in Jarrold's department store, where the mum worked, a few days before she went missing and the pair had agreed to play tennis in the new year.
She also revealed how the mum had called her twice on the day of her disappearance.

Husband left ‘in bits’
Gaynor Lord’s husband has been left “in bits” by her mysterious disappearance.
Susan Sinclair, 66, has revealed hubby Clive Lord, 63 – her brother – and the whole family still hoped “she’s found safe and well”.
But she revealed: “Clive is in bits, obviously, but he’s got his two daughters there supporting him.
“Our other brother Simon, like me, is just hoping for good news. We’re all just very shocked.
“There’s nothing we can do at the moment except hope that she’s found safe and well.”
