Emergency services dashed to the accommodation in Manchester city centre at around 9.30pm, but medics were unable to save the 19-year-old woman who died at the scene.

       A witness saw paramedics rush into the Unite flats, which house students from various universities in the city.

       Photos shared by Manchester Evening News show three police cars and three ambulances in attendance.

       Police say the death is currently being treated as "unexplained" and enquiries are ongoing.

       A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called just before 9.30pm last night to a report of a sudden death on New Wakefield Street in Manchester.

       "Emergency services attended and a 19-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

       "The death is currently being treated as unexplained whilst officers carry out enquiries.

       "A report is being prepared for HM Coroner."
