LOS ANGELES, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan runners have exhibited their dominance in the 2022 Los Angeles Marathon.
Around 15,000 runners returned to the streets of Los Angeles on Sunday to take part in one of the largest marathons in the United States.
Kenyan athlete John Korir, 25, was the men's winner for the second straight year with a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 7 seconds, followed by Kenya's Edwin Kimutai and Ethiopia's Berhanu Bekele Berga.
In the women's race, Kenya's Delvine Meringor, 29, finished first with a time of 2:25:03. Kenya's Antonia Kwambai was second, and Ethiopia's Biruktayit Degefa finished third.
The 37th edition of the event started at Dodger Stadium in Downtown Los Angeles, through some iconic neighborhoods in Los Angeles, including Chinatown and Hollywood, and finished at Avenue of the Stars in the Century City commercial district.
The annual running event, typically held each spring, was back at the normal time of year in 2022 after hosting the 2021 edition in November. The 2021 Los Angeles Marathon was rescheduled twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
