KUALA LUMPUR: The police are in the midst of completing the investigation into an assault case involving a popular actor at a condominium in Segambut.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the police need time to complete the investigation paper before it could be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.
"We are investigating the matter under Section 323 and 506 of the Penal Code.
"We aim to complete the investigation as soon as possible," he said when contacted on Sunday (June 19).
The suspect, in his mid 30s, who is a resident of the same condominium, had allegedly assaulted a fellow resident of the condominium at about 8.30pm on Thursday (June 16).
SAC Habibi had previously said the victim had asked his friend to purchase cooking oil outside of the condominium premises.
"When the victim's friend arrived to deliver the cooking oil, he was not allowed to enter the condominium by a security guard," SAC Habibi said.
The victim then went to the lobby to inquire why his friend was not allowed to enter.
The victim quarrelled with the guard before the actor suddenly intervened, punching and kicking him.
He claimed that the actor punched and kicked him in the face, chest, stomach and back as well as threatened to kill him.
The victim lodged a police report at Sentul district police headquarters and the actor was subsequently detained on Friday (June 17).
