A 6-month-old baby was pronounced dead and her parents were injured after their car was hit by an SUV that ran a red light, according to Chicago police.
The medical examiner’s office identified the baby as Josette Williams. Her parents were on their way to Comers Children’s Hospital because the 6-month-year-old had breathing difficulties.

Police said the crash occurred in the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue around 9:42 p.m. Friday when a Chevy SUV traveling west on 63rd Street failed to stop at a red light and struck a Ford SUV in the intersection. A man and woman in the Chevy fled on foot and weren’t in custody.
Josette was transported to Comers after the accident and pronounced. It is unknown if the accident caused her death, police said. An autopsy performed Saturday was inconclusive and the cause of death is pending, according to the medical examiner’s office.
