The U.S. Park Police said a fatal crash has closed part of George Washington Parkway’s southbound side in the McLean area Friday morning.

       The crash occurred just after 5 a.m. along the parkway near VA 123, which is also called Chain Bridge Road. Sgt. Roselyn Norment, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Park Police, said the driver who died was the only person in the vehicle. She said the crash is under investigation.

       Lanes were blocked between the Capital Beltway and Chain Bridge Road, and some ramps to the Beltway and the parkway were also closed. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
