GRINDR killer Stephen Port was found guilty of drugging and murdering his victims Anthony Walgate, Jack Taylor, Daniel Whitworth and Gabriel Kovari with an overdose in 2016.

       Jack Taylor's sister Donna was one of the people who helped catch the killer, in an investigation shown in the new BBC1 drama Four Lives.

       Donna, 43, is one of the sisters of Jack Taylor, the last victim of serial killer Stephen Port.

       When Mr Taylor's body was discovered in a graveyard, his sisters had suspicions that his murder was connected to two other recent murders.

       The bodies of two other Port victims, Gabriel Kovari and Daniel Whitworth, were both dumped in the exact spot where Mr Taylor was found.

       Ms Taylor and her sister started putting the pieces together, and showed notes to the police about previous bodies found in the graveyard.

       Ms Taylor said: “Could there be a connection? Is this something to do with Jack?

       “We feel like we gave officers a major lead by connecting them to these articles.

       “Instead of following up on them they dismissed us.

       “We were told Daniel killed himself and Gabriel was homeless.”

       An inquest by the Independent Office for Police Complaints (IOPC) concluded in December 2021 that "fundamental failures" made by the police led to the death of Jack and the other two victims.

       Met Police chief Cressida Dick has apologised for the mistakes in the investigation.

       The inquest heard that it wasn’t until the criminal trial which convicted Port that Ms Taylor realised “we had given them everything they needed to link the deaths”.

       In a statement read to the jury, Ms Taylor said: “Their close-minded attitude meant that they were not even open to considering what we were telling them."

       The new BBC One drama Four Lives depicts the chilling murders and the following investigation, in which Donna and the rest of her family played a big part.

       Actress Jaime Winstone, 36, plays the part of Donna in the series.

       According to the Mirror, the actress has formed a close bond with the sister of Port’s last victim.

       Donna said: “I met up with Jaime on a few -occasions with my sister Jen and the actress Stephanie Hyam who plays her.

       “That first meeting was quite emotional. Once we got to telling them about what we’d been through all four of us were in tears. The only thing I told her I wanted was for it to be truthful.

       “There will never ever be closure for me and my sister, but I got some comfort watching the show because it helps Jack’s memory to live on and tells people his story. It’s really powerful.”

       What happened to Jack Taylor?

       Mr Taylor was a 25-year-old fork lift driver.

       He lived with his parents in Dagenham, East London.

       In September 2015, Port killed Mr Taylor just three months after being released from prison.

       Port found his victims through the gay dating app Grindr to fulfil his sexual fetish for "twinks".

       Using the date-rape drug GHB, he carried out his sick fantasies on his victims including Jack Taylor, before dumping them in a graveyard.

       When Port was delivered a guilty verdict, Mr Taylor's parents and sisters wept in court but Port made no reaction.
