PETALING JAYA: DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang has tested positive for Covid-19, a day after announcing that he was retiring from active politics.
Lim had tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday (March 21) after taking a routine screening test in Parliament, which is done every Monday and Wednesday, while the Dewan Rakyat sits.
Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto, who shared a table with Lim while taking the test, said she tested negative for the virus but wished Lim a speedy recovery.
"I shared the same table as YB Lim Kit Siang, YB Senator Lim Hui Ying and Ravindran Vengadasamy.
"It is unfortunate that YB Lim Kit Siang is Covid-19 positive. But I trust he will recover soon and with the needed rest, bounce back into action.
"Take care dear Godpa, will pray for your speedy recovery," Kasthuri wrote in a Facebook post on Monday (March 21).
On Sunday (March 20), Lim, who is Iskandar Puteri MP, dropped a bombshell at the DAP annual congress when he said that he was retiring from active politics.
The 81-year-old party veteran said he will kickstart his retirement by not contesting for a central executive council (CEC) position at the congress.
He added that he would also not be defending his parliamentary seat in the upcoming general election.
