A POPULAR West Midlands Police officer has unexpectedly died aged just 47.
PC Musa Muhammed - known as 'The Colonel' - was at the forefront of "diversity and inclusiveness" at the force based in Newton, Birmingham.

He was a popular member of both the force and the local community, and was preparing to become a Sergeant.
West Midlands Police Federation chair Jon Nott said: "We are all deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected loss of Pc Muhammed, who was a well-liked and respected officer.
"We would like to extend our sincere sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. Our thoughts are with them."
PC Muhammed, who leaves his wife and young children, had been an officer for more than 20 years, and had worked with the Newton constabulary for 11 years.
A GoFundMe page has since been set up in his memory where it has surpassed its initial goal of £3,000 and has raised over £5,000.

The money will be going to Musa's family, in which his wife has expressed her gratitude to everyone helping out.
The West Midlands Association of Muslim Police said: "What is more important than the policing family he leaves behind, is that Musa now leaves behind a wife and young children.
“Musa's family has suffered great losses already in this past year, and need support now more than ever."
