After two days of searching for a petrol station with supplies, emergency care assistant Becky Hough was condemned by members of the public because her vehicle has a big tank.

Becky, 24, who works for Bristol Ambulance Emergency Medical Services, said: "On shift on an emergency ambulance, low on fuel and struggling to find somewhere that isn't sold out."

Becky, of Basingstoke, Hampshire, started looking for fuel on Friday and was finally able to fill up 48 hours later only to be sworn at by other motorists.

She said: "While fuelling we received verbal abuse from the public driving past, horns being honked and many hand gestures.

"We start every shift with a full tank of fuel. Yesterday we averaged 300 miles in a 12-hour shift."
