JOHOR BARU: Forty compound notices have been issued to poultry traders and suppliers here for selling chicken beyond the government’s ceiling price.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry state director Mohd Hairul Anuar Bohro (pic) said the compound notices were issued following checks by 200 enforcement personnel under Ops Pantau.

“Traders are advised to follow the pricing guidelines set by the government and be ethical in their business.

“Display your prices clearly and do not hike up the prices as you please,” he said in a press conference after visiting a petrol station along Jalan Skudai here on Wednesday (April 6).

Mohd Hairul added that continuous monitoring and enforcement would be carried out throughout the Ramadan period.

He said this following a news article about several poultry traders taking advantage of the situation to increase their prices to be above the ceiling price of RM8.90 per kg.

The traders were said to have sold the poultry at RM10 per kg by giving the excuse that they needed to cover the logistics costs.
