A District Heights man was found mortally injured early Monday in Northeast Washington, and D.C. police were appealing for help from witnesses to find his killer.
Police said gunshots were reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of Dix Street NE, about a block from the city’s border with Prince George’s County. When officers arrived, they found Marquette West, 29. West was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a second adult male victim was founded in a neighboring jurisdiction, and that he was injured in the same incident. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No suspects were taken into custody.
D.C. police is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to a conviction in the slaying, which can be provided by calling 202-727-9099 or by texting to 50411. There were 176 homicides in the District entering the weekend, a 23 percent increase over last year.
