PORT DICKSON: Newly-elected PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari hopes at least half the candidates that are to be fielded by the party in the coming general election will comprise young individuals.
This would enable the party to get more support from young voters, said Ahmad, who is Pasir Mas MP and previous deputy chief of the youth wing.
“We have at least 10 youth clubs in the wing and they will be used to get more support from the young voters,” he said, adding that the candidates might not necessarily be from the wing but should include women and other professionals.
In the wing’s election, Ahmad Fadhli defeated Kubu Gajah assemblyman Khalil Yahya in a straight fight.
Former Youth chief Senator Khairil Nizam Khirudin did not seek re-election.
Its former vice-chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamuddin was elected deputy. He had edged out Farkhan Md Zain.
