Taro Aso

       Former Prime Minister Taro Aso, 81, secured a seat in the Oct. 31 House of Representatives election, after defeating two newcomers in the Fukuoka No. 8 constituency in southwest Japan's Fukuoka Prefecture.

       It is his 14th victory in a lower house election.

       Aso, vice president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, also previously doubled as deputy prime minister and finance minister.
