MELAKA: Melaka police nabbed 13 individuals for allegedly organising a birthday party while displaying various alcoholic beverages in a video footage that was circulated among their friends.
Melaka CID Chief Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said a police report was lodged on the three minutes and 54 seconds video showing the men celebrating the birthday during the Second Phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
The report, he said, was lodged on Wednesday (July 21).
"Investigation revealed that the party was held on Tuesday (July 20) at a business premises at Taman Merdeka Jaya in Batu Berendam here between 4.30pm and 11.30pm.
"The premise is owned by one of the individuals," he said on Thursday (July 22).
ACP Mohd Sukri said police also discovered the individuals were allegedly found flashing signs linking to a triad group after carefully viewing the video.
He said the individuals, aged between 20 and 50, were detained on Wednesday (July 21) and had their statements recorded before being released on police bail.
ACP Mohd Sukri said all the individuals were issued compound notices for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) under the NRP.
He said the compound notices were issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021 (National Recovery Plan) 2021.
He added that the individuals are also being probed under Section 50(3) Section 52(3) of the Societies Act 1966.
