JOHOR BARU: Housing developers should return people's housing projects back to the state government if they are unable to complete it, says Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad.

       The caretaker Mentri Besar said the state government was committed to providing more affordable houses for the people of Johor and had set up the Perbadanan Kemajuan Rumah Johor to overcome housing problems in the state.

       "Through the Perbadanan Kemajuan Perumahan Johor, we have informed the developers involved in the people's housing projects to return it back to the state government if they are unable to build the houses in the near future.

       "The state government is prepared to take the responsibility off their shoulders and build the houses for the people.

       "We have also identified about 4,900 acres (1,982ha) of land that could be developed to provide more affordable homes for the people," he said.

       He added that the land identified was equipped with the necessary infrastructure and components needed to build the houses.

       "Perbadanan Kemajuan Perumahan Johor also has no problem identifying parties that could build the houses that are priced between RM100,000 and RM300,000 per unit," he said in his speech during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's visit to Residensi Larkin Indah.

       Also present was Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
