A police investigation has been launched following the incident Sunday afternoon. The woman was found in the Grand Union canal in Southall, West London, after an ambulance was called to the scene.

       London Ambulance Services arrived at the busy street near the canal at roughly 3.22pm.

       Later, at 4.13pm the woman was declared dead.

       The road by Norwood Road was closed by the police.

       The police created a cordon and officers were standing guard.

       At least three police cars were at the scene as seen in pictures.

       The Met Police say that the death is being treated as unexplained.

       The family is still to be informed of the incident.
