Who is Michael Gove’s ex-wife Sarah Vine?

       SARAH VINE and Michael Gove ended their marriage in 2021 after two decades of being wed.

       The former couple welcomed two children throughout their relationship.

       Michael Gove and Sarah Vine finalised their divorce in January 2022.

       They had first announced that they were separating in July 2021 and Sarah then filed for divorce on the basis that the marriage had "irretrievably broken down".

       The columnist later confirmed in an interview with Tatler that her ex-husband's political career played a huge role in the breakdown of their relationship.

       She said: "Politics creates a toxic environment and puts immense pressure on families and marriages.

       She added: "It's not because we hate each other, it's because I can't look after my family and myself and be a wife of politics."

       Sarah is a journalist who was born in April 1967.

       She married politician Michael Gove in 2001 after first meeting in 1999.

       Sarah became a columnist for the British tabloid newspaper the Daily Mail in 2013.

       She is godmother to former Prime Minister David Cameron's daughter Florence and has spoken of her "close friendship" with the former PM and his wife Samantha.

       It was reported in 2018 that Samantha vowed to never again speak to Gove and his wife over his "treacherous" bid for the Tory leadership.

       Sarah has come under fire for a number of controversial articles - including one on the meeting between Theresa May and Nicola Sturgeon.

       During the UK referendum on EU membership, she came out in favour of Leave.

       Who is her husband Michael Gove?

       Gove is a politician who was born in Edinburgh in 1967.

       He has been a Conservative MP since 2005.

       Upon leaving Oxford University, Gove worked as a journalist like his now ex-wife.

       He wrote for local and national newspapers and appeared on radio and TV.

       During his political career, Gove has served in several cabinet positions under numerous Prime Ministers, including Cameron, May, Boris Johnson, and Rishi Sunak.

       He has acted as the Secretary of State for Education, the Secretary of State for Justice, and the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

       As of August 2023, Gove is the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

       Do the couple have children?

       Gove and Vine have two children together.

       They share a son, William, born in 2004, and a daughter, Beatrice, who is believed to have been born in 2003.

       Sarah posted a sweet birthday tribute to her daughter in May 2021, saying: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my one and only Bea, fabulous, kind, loyal, lovely, talented and generally a joy to have around as a human being."
