Govt urged to recognise Phase Three clinical volunteers’ vaccination status

IPOH: The vaccination status of the 3,000 Covid-19 Phase Three clinical volunteers need to be given recognition as soon as possible, says the Perak MCA public service and complaints bureau.

Its chief Low Guo Nan said following Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba's recent remark that only the digital vaccination certificate in the MySejahtera app would be recognised, he said it could cause some issues for the volunteers.

"I understand the lead clinical trial researchers have been working with the MySejahtera team to create a recognition status for volunteers since last month.

"However, there has been no update on the matter," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 1).

Low had last month urged the relevant authorities to look into the matter.

Dr Adham had on Sept 30 reportedly said that the printed version of the digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate would not be recognised.

Low said all volunteers, including him, were only given a physical vaccination card.

"It only contains numbers for us to call and there is also no QR code.

"The card also has serial numbers but there could still be opportunities for it to be duplicated," he said.

"We are hoping for this to be resolved as soon as possible so as not to create unwanted issues for the volunteers in their daily lives," he added.
