PETALING JAYA: If there is an award for the "coolest best friend ever", it would go to college student Ariana Naqma Saharuddin, who "booked" a cinema just to enjoy Tom Cruise’s latest movie with Sazliana Sulan.

       The 19-year-old Johor matriculation student bought 70 tickets of the 90-seat capacity hall in Johor Baru and brought her best friend Sazliana to enjoy the movie.

       "The hall has 90 seats and I bought 70 of them, leaving two rows in the front because I don’t think anyone would want to buy tickets and sit there.

       "It cost me RM1,600 and I bought the tickets online," she told mStar, The Star’s Malay portal.

       Ariana said she decided to surprise her friend because she wanted to cheer Sazliana up after having gone through a break up, while she was also interested in watching "Top Gun: Maverick".

       "I want to cheer her up because she just broke up with her boyfriend. Also, she mentioned that she wanted to watch a movie without anyone else in the hall.

       "There was no need for a lover when she could watch it with me instead," she added.

       Despite being just a student, Ariana has been active on social media as an influencer, doing product reviews as her source of income.

       She did reviews for various products including skincare, food and clothes.

       "I had extra income this month as my views have increased. Therefore, I decided to treat my family and also my best friend," she said, adding that she has befriended Sazliana since Form One.

       Other people might say it was a waste of money but for Ariana, her friendship with Sazliana was worth more.

       "RM1,600 is almost nothing compared with the value of our friendship. She (Sazliana) has helped me a lot throughout my life and she was there when I was at my lowest point," Ariana added.
