No10 blasts transgender trio as JK Rowling's home targeted

Rowling, 56, has denied transphobia after criticising an article last year referring to “people who menstruate” instead of “women”. The mum-of-three’s address was posted online by activists who posed outside her home with “trans liberation now” signs. Last night, the PM’s official spokesman slammed their actions, saying: “I don’t think any individual should be targeted in that way.

“We believe everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and that people are able to share their views as long as it is done in that fashion.”

Rowling stressed the incident will not stop her voicing her opinions.

She wrote: “Last Friday, my family’s address was posted on Twitter by three activist actors who took pictures of themselves in front of our house, carefully positioning themselves to ensure that our address was visible.

“I have to assume [they] thought doxxing [posting private details online] would intimidate me out of speaking up for women’s sex-based rights. I’ve received so many death threats I could paper the house with them, and I haven’t stopped speaking out.”

The Twitter accounts of the trio she accused – drag queen Richard Energy, Casualty actress Georgia Frost and cabaret host Holly Stars – have been deleted.

Stars later claimed they removed the photo after being inundated with “serious and threatening transphobic messages”.

Police Scotland said: “Inquiries are ongoing.”
