A SIX-year-old boy in Punjab, India, who fell into a 100m well tragically died hours after being rescued, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The boy, identified as Rithik, was playing in a field near his house when a few dogs began chasing him. While trying to get away from the dogs, the boy fell into the well, which was covered up with gunny sacks.

The boy, who was trapped at about a 30m depth, was rescued by fire and rescue officials after a nine-hour effort during which he was given oxygen. However, his condition worsened soon after and he died despite treatment.

       > The Anak-Anak Negri Sembilan (AANS) non-governmental organisation has pledged to build an access road for SJK (T) Ladang Kubang in Nilai, Makkal Osai reported.

AANS chairman Murugesan Aiyasamy said the lack of proper access to the school has caused student numbers to dwindle drastically.
