Queen health: Picture of royal on duty offers 'interesting' insight on monarch's state

Royal commentator and journalist Dickie Arbiter appeared on the Royal Beat podcast where the panel discussed the health of the Queen. Buckingham Palace released a short video of the monarch meeting with General Sir Nick Carter, the Chief of the Defence Staff, in what appeared to be an attempt to calm the nerves of the public. But Mr Arbiter spotted something quite interesting from the photos and clips released surrounding the Queen's shoes.

Speaking on True Royalty's The Royal Beat, Mr Arbiter pointed out the Queen's shoes were flatter than normal.

He explained: "What I did notice in the picture was her shoes were slightly flatter than they normally are.

"Which would indicate that perhaps she is still suffering and will take time to heal.

"But she was up and about, she was animated during the audience and that is good news."

Mr Arbiter said he hoped the Queen would be able to meet Sir Nick's replacement in the next few days.

Buckingham Palace released a video of Sir Nick meeting the Queen as he steps down from his role.

Greeted by one of the Queen's dogs, Sir Nick bowed his head for the Queen who remarked it was "rather sad" as his retirement.

He pointed out to the Queen he was in the role for eight years and the only person who has been in the role longer was Lord Mountbatten.

The Queen commented: “I suppose if you get into that job, you know, it is easier to continue, isn’t it, really?”

Sir Nick replied: “I think that’s right. Although I have to say, I think the time comes when it’s ready to move on.”

The Queen was forced to pull out of several engagements following health advice.

Alarm bells rang when she was advised by doctors to not fly to Northern Ireland for a ceremony celebrating the country's centenary.

It was soon revealed the Queen spent the night in hospital.

The Queen was also forced to pull out of Cop26 and instead delivered a virtual message to attendees.

The monarch also did not attend Remembrance Sunday services.
