John Bercow introduced himself to American viewers of The Traitors US by boasting about his familiarity with "backstabbing" and "deception".
The 60-year-old is taking part in the US edition of the immensely popular show. The TV series pits together a group of celebrity contestants who must work out who has been designated "traitors" in order to eliminate them from the game before the end.
Mr Bercow stepped onto the show after leaving politics following the 2019 election. During his time as Speaker in the House of Commons, he faced accusations of siding with Labour and blocking Theresa May's attempts to reach a Brexit deal.

He touted his years of experience in the House of Commons, suggesting it would make him good at sniffing out Traitors on the show.
"Over the years I have developed a knack for detecting who frankly is trying to lie, to deceive, to cheat, for material gain," he said.
A former Conservative MP, Mr Bercow became a Labour party member after stepping down from managing debates in the House of Commons.
This was taken by his critics as a sign that he had been intentionally working against Ms May's government as he oversaw crucial votes to move the Brexit deal forward.
He was also found to have been guilty of bullying, intimidation as well as sexually discriminatory remarks during his time in the House of Commons, according to a Parliamentary Standards investigation.

"The respondent’s conduct was so serious that, had he still been a member of parliament, we would have determined that he should be expelled by resolution of the house," the report said. "As it is, we recommend that he should never be permitted a pass to the parliamentary estate."
It also accused him of being "widely unreliable and repeatedly dishonest" when giving evidence.

Mr Bercow strenuously denied the findings and described the investigation process as "grievously unjust".
He also said complainants had opposed his reforms for parliament to make the Commons more inclusive and diverse.
"Parliament is supposed to be the highest court in the land," he said. "This inquiry, which lasted a ghastly 22 months at great cost to the taxpayer, has failed it dismally. At the end of it, the panel has simply said that I should be denied a parliamentary pass which I have never applied for and do not want. That is the absurdity of its position."
