A HOLIDAY hotspot in Spain unexpectedly closed after a disgusting discovery was made by the local authorities.

       Sandy beaches and scorching hot weather await Brits looking for a relaxing break.

       But Spanish authorities were forced to close down a popular beach in the region on Wednesday after traces of faeces were found in the water.

       After checks spotted dangerous bacteria at the beach of Con, Spanish police banned locals and other tourists from swimming.

       Sunbathers were allowed to remain on the sand.

       It was found that the problem was caused by a pouring of sewage the day before.

       Police were unable to confirm what day the beach would re-open as it depended on the quality of the local water.

       It comes as a "fearsome predator" was found off the coast of a popular UK beach.

       A Portuguese Man O'War, which can cause a sting, was found floating on a beach near Devon – as locals were warned not to touch it.

       Holidaymakers were also left in shock after having to evacuate from a beach in Greece last week.

       A 4.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Glyka Nera beach in Crete over a week ago.

       People were ordered to leave the beach as authorities were concerned about a landslide in the local area.

       Access to the beach was blocked off – meaning boats were also stopped from coming too close to the beach.

       Travel experts have also been advising people on what attractions to avoid on holiday.

       Hotspots include the Eiffel Tower in Paris and Brandenburg Gate in Berlin – due to scams and ruses.
