AMPANG: A total of 75 police personnel and officers have been deployed at Merpati (A) Apartments in Pandan Indah, which has been placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 18-31.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said 32 military personnel and officers and four Rela members would assist efforts to enforce the EMCO here.
"We have placed four checkpoints around the three blocks of the apartments to watch over movement of residents," he said at the apartment on Sunday (July 18).
He added that police would patrol the area regularly to ensure that no one enters or leaves
The situation was quiet until about 10.30pm on Saturday (July 17) when a convoy of vehicles from enforcement bodies started arriving to prepare the area for the EMCO.
Meanwhile, Hulu Langat district officer Najmuddin Jemain said he hoped residents would stay calm and not worry about their welfare as aid would be distributed.
"The Hulu Langat Disaster Management Committee has prepared measures to ensure their welfare is taken care of.
He said there were about 2,500 residents at the apartment blocks.
"We have mapped out strategies for the 14-day EMCO period, including verifying the residents' health status and conducting screenings.
"The residents will also be vaccinated at home, similar to other EMCO areas in Selangor," he said.
